A day or overnight trip on the Island's Gold Coast might include stops at some of the Great Gatsby-esque mansions. These include Old Westbury Gardens and Oheka Castle in Huntington, on the highest point on Long Island, and considered as elegant as a French chateau. this is also a hotel with overnight stays, both suggested in the article.

Sunken Forest on Fire Island reached by ferry from Sayville is one of the less crowded beaches, said the report.
